No. 12 | Spielberg

I really enjoy this track. I think Turn 3 is a good corner for racing – you can out-brake another car here, and the addition of a third DRS zone along the straight between Turns 1 and 2 should add a new element to the race. Hopefully, it will add to the spectacle ... It’s a great track and a great weekend.

A hidden gem perched in the Austrian mountains, this race circuit boasts incredible infrastructure thanks to the folks at Red Bull. The weekend fêtes the local culture in everything from Formula Unas (please come back!) to the delicious Schnitzel and Spätzle served in the grandstands. Trackside, fans can test their grit behind the wheel with a virtual hot lap in the GameZone or view special Red Bull displays, like the capsule from Red Bull’s Stratos mission with Austrian base jumper Felix Baumgartner, which was on view in 2017.

There are a few great hotels nearby, but they sell out quickly. We prefer to stay a half-hour away in the city of Graz, known for its lively bar and restaurant scene. Unless you live nearby or want to camp, you have to be prepared for a bit of a commute (albeit through lovely mountains), and much to our dismay, the Formula 1 vibe definitely falls off a cliff once you leave the Red Bull Ring. Bring your Wellies, as the weather can be unpredictable.\

The Red Bull connection. While Red Bull Racing have won many championships and are commonly mentioned in the same breath as Ferrari and Mercedes, let’s not forget that they are an independent team! Red Bull the team and Red Bull the circuit have made monumental contributions to Formula 1, and this venue is the best place to reflect on that.
