CIRCUIT EXPERIENCE: 6

Originally designed in 1921 by Jules de Their and Henri Langlois Van Ophem (not Herman Tilke!), Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps slices through the Ardennes Forest. It boasts one of the most epic turns in all of motorsport: Eau Rouge – Raidillon. Find a seat with a view of this section, and you will be treated to high-speed action from start to finish. Unfortunately, the weather can be all over the place, and trackside festivities leave us wanting more.

CITY ACTION: 4

The Belgian Grand Prix weekend requires a different approach. Accommodations are limited and sell out quickly, and away from the circuit, nightlife is in short supply. Your best bet is to camp with a few friends at the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps’ Young Village — just mind the mud, should it rain. With DJs spinning all night, the campgrounds stoke the party atmosphere we’re after.

X Factor: 8

Eau Rouge – Raidillon. This turn is a challenge for drivers to navigate, and it’s a beauty for the viewer to watch. Fernando Alonso explained in an F1 conference, “You come into the corner downhill, have a sudden change at the bottom, and then go very steep uphill. From the cockpit, you cannot see the exit, and as you come over the crest, you don’t know where you will land.” It is our favorite place to perch.
