Editor’s Pick: Best for Shopping

The team at Albert Park might do more than any other to put on a memorable show. The street circuit surrounding the lake becomes overrun with stimuli during the race weekend. With car shows, music performances, support races, demonstrations, and still more to squeeze into your itinerary, your biggest problem will be trying to do it all. Get the new AusGP Park Pass, which provides access to all the official on- and off-track entertainment options, including the Melbourne Walk and Heineken Saturday.

And then there’s the magnificent city of Melbourne, which gets our vote as home for the next Rev HQ. The incredible options for eating, drinking, shopping, partying, and relaxing are beyond compare. It’s spread out, so whether you’re in the Central Business District or Southbank you’ll have plenty to do. But you do lose the Formula 1 vibe once you leave the circuit, and weather can be iffy. Nearby Chapel Street serves up plenty of shopping with a balanced mix of high-end retailers and trendy local makers. In general, items are well-priced, and a bargain is never far away.

Being the season opener. All of the intrigue from the off-season and from pre-season testing plays out in Melbourne as the cars roll back on the circuit and questions finally get answered. It is here that new regulations are implemented, such as the (ultimately disastrous) new qualifying scheme in 2016, which makes the Australian Grand Prix perhaps the most hotly anticipated race of the year, setting us up for months of action (well ... hopefully).
